Healing Valley brings together four connected worlds. Each can be experienced on its own, but the deeper idea lies in the connections between them: better health can create space for learning; learning can deepen our relationship with culture; culture can shape how we understand place; and nature can remind us that wellbeing is never only individual.
The Vision
A PLACE TO HEAL, LEARN, CONNECT AND CONTRIBUTE
Healing Valley is envisioned as a living ecosystem for human flourishing - bringing together health, wisdom, culture, spirituality, nature and meaningful human connection.
Â
Rooted in Bhutanese values and open to ideas from around the world, it asks a simple but ambitious question: how can tradition, science, culture and nature work together to help people - and the places they inhabit - flourish?
Â
This is not a retreat that asks people to escape the world. It is a place intended to help them return to it with better health, greater clarity, deeper understanding and a stronger sense of connection.

Within Gelephu Mindfulness City
BORN WITHIN A DIFFERENT IDEA OF PROGRESS
Healing Valley is being developed within the wider environment of Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC), the Special Administrative Region in southern Bhutan envisioned by His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.
Â
GMC spans more than 4,046 km2 and was established by Royal Charter in February 2024. Its public vision brings Bhutanese spirituality and harmony with nature into conversation with innovation, technology and economic vibrancy. Its priority sectors include Spirituality, Health & Wellness, Education & Knowledge, and Tourism - creating a natural setting for the Healing Valley vision.

The Medicine Buddha
THE SPIRITUAL HEART OF HEALING VALLEY
At the centre of Healing Valley is the Medicine Buddha - a timeless symbol of healing, compassion and the aspiration to relieve suffering.
Â
The sanctuary is conceived as more than an architectural landmark. It is a place of stillness, prayer, contemplation and encounter: a spiritual centre from which the wider Valley unfolds. Around it, four complementary expressions of human flourishing come together - health, wisdom, culture and our relationship with nature.
Journeys
DON'T SIMPLY VISIT. EXPERIENCE IT.
Healing Valley will be experienced through journeys of different depth and duration. The first public framework is deliberately simple: 4 days to Discover, 7 days to Restore, and 14 days to Transform. Each journey can combine different elements of health, contemplation, learning, culture, nature and Bhutanese life.
Research & Collaboration
WHERE IDEAS MEET EVIDENCE
Healing Valley aims to create a platform for meaningful collaboration across health, wellbeing, human development, culture, traditional knowledge and regenerative living.
Â
Universities, clinicians, researchers, cultural institutions and other partners will be invited to help shape this work as the project develops.

Get Involved
Healing Valley is still being built - in ideas, partnerships and physical form. We welcome conversations with people and organisations who can contribute knowledge, experience, culture, research, operating expertise, strategic partnership or investment.
Â
Not every relationship needs to look the same, and not every form of involvement is financial. The goal is to bring together people who can help create something enduring.
