Our Story

Rooted in Bhutan. Built for the world

Healing Valley begins with two complementary ways of looking at human wellbeing.

One comes from a centuries-old Bhutanese spiritual lineage - a tradition concerned with compassion, wisdom, education, practice and the alleviation of suffering. The other comes from modern medicine and science - a discipline concerned with evidence, measurement, prevention, diagnosis and the practical work of helping people live healthier lives.

Healing Valley is the attempt to create a place where these perspectives can meet without either losing its integrity.

The Neyphug Foundation

Neyphug Thegchen Tsemo Monastery was first built in 1550 and has served as the principal seat of the Neyphug Trulku lineage. H.E. the 9th Neytrul Rinpoche has continued that tradition through spiritual teaching and education, including the founding of the Neyphug Thegchen Tsemo School in 2006 to provide a home and education for underprivileged children from across Bhutan.

A Modern Health Perspective

Dr Ben Ng brings the perspective of a practising endocrinologist: a focus on metabolic health, prevention, healthy ageing, evidence and the realities of how people live. Through Arden Endocrinology Specialist Clinic in Singapore and wider clinical, academic and digital-health work, his role is to help ensure that the health side of Healing Valley remains clinically credible, measurable and useful.

The shared idea

The shared ambition is larger than a clinic, monastery, school or resort. Healing Valley is intended to become a place where people can come for health, reflection, learning, culture and nature - and where Bhutanese values can engage with the wider world in a way that creates enduring value at home.

The point is not to fuse everything into one philosophy.

The point is to build a place where different strengths can meet with integrity.
